About Lakeview Library’s Blog
Hello, and welcome to the Lakeview Library Blog.
We admit selfish motives–we’ve started this blog to collect support to save our library. The City of Oakland proposes draconian cuts to Lakeview’s hours and services. We want to enlist support from you, the people Lakeview library serves.
Our first two blogs are shamelessly self serving:
- Our first blog gives the story of the budget cuts the city proposed, outlines who to send your opinion to, and (for Lakeview’s sake) has a comments section into which you can paste a copy of any e-mails you send to the city (please consider pasting your e-mail–we can use the documentation!)
- The second blog is our wish to add some depth and quality to our request for clemency: We want you, our patrons, to tell your library stories: How have libraries helped you? What have you learned there? Do you have a funny, or poignant, or touching story to tell? Tell us and we’ll tell the city.
Right now, we’re under fire. With your help, we can keep Lakeview–and all of Oakland’s libraries–open to help, harbor, educate, entertain and edify the people of this City.
While you’re here, please post comments to our blogs. And when you’re in the neighborhood, please come by and visit us.
